Growing up in Nigeria, Petra's work exemplifies extensions of the country’s artistic expressions, motifs and symbols found primarily in textiles, masks and sculpture. She is an award winning visual artist, and also a face & body painter, mask designer, muralist, curator.
She has worked on a number of film and theatrical productions including Gladstone Yearwood’s film “Sweet Bottom”, where she was Art Director and Costume Designer in plays by Kamau Brathwaite’s "Odale’s
Choice", Trey Anthony’s “Da Kink in my Hair” and "From Bussa to Barrow & Beyond" directed by Sonia Williams.
Petra has been an external coordinator with the National Cultural Foundation, camp tutor of craft, special effects make-up and costume design at National Summer Camps and the Errol Barrow Centre for Creative Imagination as well as craft tutor of those who are differently abled with Special Olympics Barbados.
She has done extensive work in her community of St. Peter where she
developed creative projects and workshops such as poetry competitions, beauty pageants, murals, jewellery and mask making for the development of at-risk youth. She holds a BFA and a PgDip Education.
